The Bradford White RG140T6N is a 40 US gallon (151 L) atmospheric-vent natural gas storage water heater with a 34,000 BTU/h input, 64 US gallon first-hour rating and UEF 0.59, sold in Canada through wholesale channels. It is the low-input 40-gallon alternative to the RG240T6N.

Bradford White RG140T6N in practice
The RG140T6N pairs a 40 US gallon nominal volume with a modest 34,000 BTU/h input, which keeps its gas draw low at the cost of recovery: about 37 US gal/h (139 L/h) at a 50 °C rise and a first-hour rating of 64 US gallons (242 L), eleven gallons below the 40,000 BTU/h RG240T6N. Its 18 in (457 mm) jacket is narrower than the 20 in of the higher-input 40-gallon model.
It vents by natural draft through a 3" or 4" draft hood into a chimney or B-vent, draws combustion air from the room and needs no electricity. UEF 0.59 is a medium-draw rating below ENERGY STAR. Whether CANRO stocks this model for a given job is confirmed at consultation.

Maintenance the manufacturer specifies
- Inspect the anode rod every 2 years and replace when depleted; more often with softened water (manual, Maintenance item 9).

Hot water and scalding
- Water above 49 °C at a tap can scald in seconds, and children and older adults are at most risk. BC's plumbing code limits shower and bathtub water to 49 °C.
- Storage tanks are normally kept hotter (Health Canada advises 60 °C) to limit Legionella growth, with a thermostatic mixing valve tempering the water to the fixtures.
- Never bypass or remove a mixing valve, thermostat or high-limit control to get hotter water.

Is the RG140T6N sold in Canada?
Yes. It is listed on Bradford White's Canadian residential gas page and on Canadian spec sheet C1101. Bradford White sells only through wholesalers, so it is supplied and installed by contractors such as CANRO.
Why would I choose the RG140T6N over the RG240T6N?
Both are 40-gallon tall tanks. The 140T6N has a 34,000 BTU/h input with a narrower 18 in jacket and lower recovery; the 240T6N has 40,000 BTU/h, a 20 in jacket and an 11 US gallon higher first-hour rating. The choice is space and gas draw versus peak delivery.
Can the RG140T6N run on propane?
The propane version is the RG140T6X; the input is the same 34,000 BTU/h on both fuels per the Canadian sheet. Order the correct fuel version; fuel conversion is not a field procedure.
