About this service

Buying a water heater through WaterHeating.ca is a consultation and supply-and-install process, not an online checkout. CANRO publishes free water heater consultations and free detailed written estimates across Metro Vancouver. A consultation is where a technician counts fixtures and peak-hour use, looks at the flue, gas line, drain and electrical, and explains what will and will not work before any equipment is proposed.

Consultations are especially useful when deciding between a like-for-like tank and a tankless conversion, when a suite or laneway house adds demand, for property managers weighing multi-unit hot-water plant options, and for anyone who has been told they need a bigger unit without a demand assessment.

What's included

  • Review of the existing unit, venting, gas or electrical supply and drainage
  • Hot-water demand assessment: people, simultaneous fixtures, winter temperature rise
  • Discussion of tank, tankless, electric and heat-pump options that fit the site
  • Explanation of permit, venting, condensate and mixing-valve requirements
  • A written estimate for the option you choose, at no charge

Not included

  • Engineered drawings for commercial plants (referred to a professional engineer when required)
  • Binding pricing before an assessment
