About the SENSEI RX / RXP (condensing)

The RX series replaced the RU as Rinnai's lead residential condensing line: rinnai.ca lists RX199iN, RX180iN, RX160iN and smaller sizes ahead of the RU models as of the verification date, with UEF 0.98 on the residential pages, ENERGY STAR marked on the Canadian listing, and Wi-Fi capability built into the platform.

RXP models (for example the RXP199iN) are the RX units with a recirculation pump built in, removing the separate pump and pump-cable purchase of the RX/RU external-pump approach. Recirculation shortens the wait at distant taps; it does not make hot water instant and it adds gas use.

Rinnai's cross-series troubleshooting document 100000652 maps diagnostic codes across SENSEI generations, so the code table for this series is read against the RX manual 100000839 and that document. Whether CANRO stocks a given RX model for a job is confirmed at consultation.

Frequently asked questions

Is the RX series the replacement for the RU series?

Rinnai Canada lists the RX and RXP models ahead of the RU series as of September 2026, which makes RX the current flagship; the RU pages remain live, so both are treated as available until Rinnai retires the RU pages.

What does RXP add over RX?

A built-in recirculation pump. The RX and RU models support recirculation with an external pump; the RXP carries the pump inside the cabinet.

What UEF does the RX series carry?

UEF 0.98 for the residential RX and RXP models per rinnai.ca, with ENERGY STAR marked on the Canadian listing. Ratings are only compared at the same draw pattern.
