Bradford White service

Bradford White: measure the peak, then size the heater: the demand assessment

A structured count of how much hot water your household actually uses at the busiest hour, so the tank is sized by first-hour delivery and the tankless unit by flow at the winter rise, never by house size or bedroom count.

Hot-Water Demand Assessment for Bradford White water heaters

Most water heaters are replaced at the size of the one that failed, and most of those were never sized at all. A demand assessment counts the people, the fixtures that run at once, the shower and tub flows, and the hour of the week when demand peaks, then reads that peak against first-hour ratings or flow-at-rise tables from the published catalogue.

The assessment also catches the non-heater issues that look like demand problems, such as a broken dip tube or a recirculation crossover that wastes heat. It is included in every CANRO consultation and written estimate, and it is the right first step before any replacement or conversion.

Frequently asked questions

Why does my 40 gallon tank run out?

Either the peak exceeds the first-hour rating, or a fault such as a broken dip tube is short-circuiting cold water. The assessment separates sizing from faults.

Is the assessment free?

Demand assessment is part of CANRO's free consultations and free written estimates for replacements and installations.
