These two are the short forms of Bradford White's power-vent 40 and 50. Both use the AquaVENT blower and ICON System control, so both need a 120 VAC, 3.1 A supply and neither produces hot water during a power outage, unlike an atmospheric tank. Both vent under positive pressure through 2, 3 or 4 in PVC, ABS, CPVC or polypropylene with the same maximum equivalent lengths (50 ft in 2 in, 120 ft in 3 in, 200 ft in 4 in), so the side-wall venting solution is identical.
Recovery and efficiency are shared: 44 US gal/h (167 L/h) at a 90 °F (50 °C) rise and UEF 0.72 under the medium-draw test, which is above the atmospheric line but still below ENERGY STAR's 0.81 threshold. The only performance difference is stored volume: 40 US gallons nominal against 50, which lifts the first-hour rating from 75 to 78 US gal (284 to 295 L).
The cabinet grows modestly: the RG2PV50S6N19 is 1 in taller (48 3/16 in against 47 3/16 in to the top of the heater), 2 in wider in the jacket (24 in against 22 in) and 26 lb heavier (168 lb against 142 lb). Both take 3/4 in NPT water connections and a 1/2 in gas connection, and both are factory-fitted with a T&P relief valve.
For a replacement under an existing power-vent run, either fits the same vent and gas work. The 50-gallon model is worth the step when the household's peak hour regularly exhausts the 40; if it does not, the smaller tank recovers at the same rate and fits a narrower space. Whether CANRO supplies a given size is confirmed at consultation.
