Rheem ThermaForce condensing tankless

The Rheem ThermaForce is a fully condensing indoor tankless water heater that Rheem publishes at up to 0.90 UEF with ENERGY STAR qualification. The published model is CRTGH-L199i at 10.1 GPM in a 17 inch wide by 29 inch high by 10 inch deep cabinet, listed in both natural gas and propane. Rheem describes a single-pass Labyrinth heat exchanger with an integrated copper waterway and states the unit stands up to extreme hard water applications.

The published design reduces the moving parts to four: the fan, mixing valve, gas valve and damper. Rheem states the units use universal shared platform parts for easier diagnosis and service, and support wireless cascading over RF to balance the workload of each unit, which Rheem notes needs no Wi-Fi. The unit carries a built-in illuminated touchscreen control panel, extra-long pipe fittings with notched sides, a moveable combustion air intake for left or right routing, and the ability to flex vent in existing B-vent.

WaterHeating.ca records the efficiency as the published UEF and does not convert it to a legacy EF. Tankless sizing depends on the incoming water temperature, the temperature rise and simultaneous fixture demand, so a model is selected from a heat-loss and flow assessment rather than from the GPM figure alone. Whether CANRO supplies a specific ThermaForce model and performs a gas tank-to-tankless conversion is confirmed at consultation.
