About the Professional Classic power direct vent gas tank
The Rheem Professional Classic power direct vent is a residential gas storage water heater that takes combustion air from outside and exhausts combustion gases through a second pipe, so the two-pipe system does not use room air. That sealed-combustion arrangement is the reason the family is used where indoor air quality, tight construction or a confined space rule out an atmospheric or power-vent unit.
Rheem publishes 0.57 EF, a first-hour rating of 64 to 86 gallons and recovery of 32.4 to 42.4 gallons per hour at a 90 degrees F rise across 40 and 50 US gallon capacities. The published feature set includes a 120 VAC powered blower, a flammable vapour detection system that disables the heater when vapour accumulates, an electronic gas control with self-diagnostics, the R-Tech resistored anode rod, an enhanced-flow brass drain valve and a factory temperature and pressure relief valve. Venting is PVC, ABS or CPVC up to 100 feet with vertical or horizontal termination and a concentric vent kit available.
The family is certified for installation up to 10,200 ft above sea level and Rheem states a low-NOx burner design. Because it is a sealed-combustion unit the installation manual's air-intake, exhaust and clearance rules govern the installation. WaterHeating.ca records the efficiency as a legacy EF figure and does not convert it to a UEF. Whether CANRO supplies a specific model is confirmed at consultation.
