Rheem Professional Classic heavy duty gas tank

The Rheem Professional Classic Heavy Duty is a residential gas storage water heater built for higher hot-water demand than a standard tank. Rheem publishes 60 and 75 US gallon capacities with higher BTU inputs, a first-hour rating up to 141 gallons for natural gas and up to 109 gallons for LP gas, and recovery up to 75.8 gallons per hour on natural gas or 67.7 gallons per hour on LP at a 90 degrees F rise. The family is listed for Canada and Rheem states it is not available in the United States.

Rheem publishes .53 to .57 EF for the Heavy Duty models and lists both Energy Factor 0.53 and UEF 0.53 for the 75-gallon model PROG60S-75N CN53 in its specification table. WaterHeating.ca records the efficiency as a legacy EF figure and does not convert it to a UEF. The published feature set includes the Guardian System air/fuel shut-off device that disables the heater when flammable vapour accumulates, the EverKleen sediment-control system on 60-gallon models, a piezo ignitor, an R-Tech resistored anode rod, an enhanced-flow brass drain valve and a factory temperature and pressure relief valve.

Rheem states the family exceeds ANSI standards for flammable vapour ignition resistance, meets 40 ng/J NOx requirements and is certified for installation up to 7,700 ft above sea level. The 75-gallon models also carry side water connections for space-heating applications. Because it is an atmospheric unit it needs a chimney or B-vent and combustion air from the space, and the installation manual governs those requirements.
