Rheem Professional Classic direct vent gas tank

The Rheem Professional Classic direct vent is a residential gas storage water heater that uses outside air for combustion through a coaxial vent. Because it needs no electrical power and no indoor combustion air, the family is used where a power outlet is unavailable at the heater location or where combustion air cannot be taken from the room.

Rheem publishes .61 EF for the family and a model table listing 0.58 to 0.62 EF across the 40 and 50 US gallon models. The published performance is a first-hour rating of 66 gallons for the 40 gallon model and 78 gallons for the 50 gallon model, with recovery of 30.3 to 36.4 gallons per hour at a 90 degrees F rise. The adjustable coaxial vent can swivel 360 degrees, the aluminium vent and cap base is intended to prevent staining of the building exterior, and the family meets 40 ng/J NOx requirements. A horizontal or vertical vent kit is ordered separately.

The published feature set also includes the Guardian System flammable-vapour air/fuel shut-off device, a premium anode rod, the Rheemglas tank lining, a heat-saving flue baffle, piezo ignition, an enhanced-flow brass drain valve, a factory temperature and pressure relief valve and the EverKleen sediment-control system.
