Giant Standard Condensing Tankless

The Giant Standard Condensing Tankless is Giant's residential condensing gas tankless unit, made by the Montreal manufacturer that states it has served the Canadian market for 80 years. Giant publishes 0.95 Uniform Energy Factor and ENERGY STAR certification, a stainless-steel heat exchanger and X3 scale-prevention technology, which Giant describes as keeping like-new performance longer and extending life by up to three times versus unprotected units. Built-in digital controls show performance and error status, and Giant states the units can cascade up to 12 units for larger demand.

Giant publishes high-output models at 160,000, 180,000 and 199,000 BTU/h with up to 10.5 GPM of continuous hot water; the dedicated Standard Condensing Tankless page describes the 199,000 BTU/h unit. Exhaust venting is 2 in PVC up to 50 ft (15.3 m) or 3 in PVC up to 150 ft (45.7 m). Because it is a fully condensing unit it produces condensate and needs a drain, and it needs a sealed vent route to an exterior termination and a 120 V supply. The installation manual governs approved vent materials, lengths and condensate handling.

WaterHeating.ca records the efficiency as the published UEF and does not convert it to a legacy EF. The 10.5 GPM figure is a manufacturer rating with no stated temperature rise on Giant's page, so it is not winter delivery; tankless sizing depends on the incoming water temperature, the temperature rise and simultaneous fixture demand, and is confirmed in a demand assessment.
