A. O. Smith Vertex HV high-efficiency condensing gas tanks

A. O. Smith Canada publishes the Vertex HV as its high-efficiency gas storage line, built around a side-fire design that the manufacturer describes as providing outstanding condensing performance. Because the burner fires into the side of the tank rather than from below, the unit uses a condensing heat exchanger and produces condensate that must be drained. It is ENERGY STAR qualified with a published 0.90 UEF.

A distinctive published feature is that a single design covers both Power Vent and Power Direct Vent installations, which matters when a replacement has to match an existing vent route.
